01787 277367 Clare Bears Staff

The staff, led by the pre-school leader (Angela Steward), are responsible for the planning and implementation of the educational curriculum in day to day activities and for the care and safeguarding of all the children at the pre-school.

All members of staff are either qualified or are training towards a childcare qualification (within the guidelines recommended by OFSTED) and all staff have a First Aid qualification. It is our policy for staff to attend regular development and training sessions.

We encourage parents to take an active role in the Pre-School. Should any parent/carer have any special interests (e.g. music, dance, crafts etc.) we would particularly welcome their help. Voluntary assistants are always welcome.

At Clare Bears we maintain the ratio of adults to children that is set by the National Standards for Under 8's Day Care and Childminding. We also encourage and welcome volunteer parent helpers where possible to complement these ratios.

She went on to achieve her NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and is currently training to be the setting Deputy Leader. She enjoys helping children to develop and progress throughout their time at Clare Bears.

Courtney Bareham

Courtney first came to Clare Bears when she was 16 for work experience. It was this experience that led to her pursuit of a career in childcare and when she completed her NVQ Level 3 in 2015 she joined Clare Bears as an official member of staff. She particularly enjoys exploring nature and the outdoor environment with the children.

Jenny Doherty

Jenny is a qualified teacher and joined the staff team in 2015 working for one session per week. Her role was introduced to help 'bridge the gap' from pre-school to Reception class that the nursery (which closed in 2011) used to provide. She covers early literacy including phonics and numeracy skills. She also works with children who are entitled to EYPP funding and in collaboration with key workers supports them in their 'next steps'. She is passionate about early learning and helping children reach their potential. She has a love of music and enjoys including music, actions and games in her sessions to keep everyone focussed and entertained!
